Going to Disney in the near future? Why pay full price for a pair of Mickey/Minnie ears when you can make them? And of course, you can make them look however you like!

Instructions

  1. Cut out two circles from the foam. These will be slightly smaller than the ones you will cut from felt. Perfection not required, these won't be seen.

  2. Small ear

Now cut two shapes as seen in the picture out of the felt. It's basically two circles joined by a small rectangle.

  3. Small ear2

Hot glue your foam circle to one side of the ear shape shown above. Try to center it within the circle, and don't glue it onto the rectangular joint piece. (See picture.)

  4. Small ear3

Put glue onto the rectangular part of the felt ear piece and glue it to the underside of the headband wherever you want the ear to sit (slightly off center and to one side).

  5. Small ear4

Wrap the other side of the felt ear piece around the headband, so that the rectangular part is flat on the underside of the band and the two circular ear pieces are touching (and are flush with each other). Glue the two circular pieces together and to the top of the hairband to create the ear itself.

  6. Repeat steps 2 through 5 for the second ear. If you're just making Mickey ears, you're done! Continue to step 7 if you're embellishing...

  7. If you're making Minnie Ears, just add a polka dot bow to the front of one ear.

  8. If you're re-creating my bridal ears: use spray glue to adhere glitter to each ear, and attach a bow to one ear. Cut a piece of tulle 18" by 27" and fold so that you have a two-layer piece. Sew lace trim to the bottom of each layer, then sew a gathering stitch across the fold. Gather the tulle and glue it to the top of the headband, between the ears.

  9. Wear proudly!
