Draw out the shape of the spike.
Cut the spikes out carefully. If you cut slow the foam will bend and potentially break so cut these out fairly quickly.
Paint the foam spikes with the paint or nail polish of your choice.
Let the paint dry then hot glue the earring base onto the back. I painted the back also because they do hang lower than your earlobe.
