Mamegomas are little seals created by San-X that are small enough to live happily in a fish bowl and they eat soybeans. 'Mamegoma' means 'Bean Seal' in Japanese, the word bean here refers to their small size but they remind me a tiny bit of beans! I can't find any where to buy these apart from ebay and I can't be bothered with that so I made my own. Being a Japanese creation they come in all kinds of colours and themes. I hope we don't get sued by San-X.

Start by cutting two peices of felt out in seal shapes. (I tried to get the face on the front and copy the shape but it didn't quite work!)
Cut out four flipper shapes. Sew two pairs together, adding stuffing.
Cut out eyes (or use real doll eyes) and an oval for nose/mouth part, embroider nose and mouth onto oval.
Cut out any additional detail such as this bit of strawberry 'dipping' in the picture or polka dots or whatever!
Sew on features and additional details.
Sew up the mamegoma parts, stuffing it as you go along and sewing on flippers when you get to an appropriate place. And done! (Lavender's belly is lavender!)
