You Will Need (7 things)
- Wood
- Screw(s)
- Saw
- Screwdriver
- String
- Paint
- Sander
Steps (10 steps, 60 minutes)
-
1
Decide how big you want your gate to be, and how tall you want it to be and then cut wooden planks (I'm using pallet wood) to roughly the desired length.
-
2
Depending on how wide you want your pallet to be, will depend on how many planks you need to use.
-
3
Once you've cut enough planks, lay them out on the floor and place a straight edge along to bottom and butt the wood up against it.
-
4
Then using two further pieces of timber cut to the same width as the gate, screw these into the wood to hold each of the timbers in the desired place.
-
5
Once those are secured, you can then add a third 'cross' piece of timber to give the gate added strength. To measure this up, simply lay a piece of wood across and mark out the cuts with a pencil. Once cut, screw it into the wood in the same way you did before.

I'm adding an arch to my gate, so to mark this out I've attached a pencil to a bit of string, which I've temporarily screwed into the centre of the gate. Pulling both the pencil and string tight, you can draw an arch keeping the pencil in the right position.
-
7
You can then cut the arch out using a jigsaw.
-
8
If your wood is a little rough, you can sand it down by using either sandpaper or a handheld sander.
-
9
Finally, you can paint the gate in any colour you want!

Once done, it should look a little something like this. Now you're ready to hang it!
