When it comes to summer jewelry it is - small and boring chains are OUT and bulky and embellished statement necklaces are IN. Every girl should have at least one good statement necklace in her coffer. This folklore inspired necklace is super easy to make and it looks pretty unique. Besides you can give some old grandma beads a second chance to gleam...
You will need one ball of crochet thread, satin ribbon, big sewing needle, thick chain and old beads.
Wind the thread around a board or something similar to create a thicker yarn for the braid.
Once you've done that secure the yarn on one side...
...and cut through on the other side.
Now start to make an oval-shaped braid.
Secure the ends very well and cut off the leftovers.
Now with the same thread sew the chain onto the upper edge of the braid.
Attach randomly the beads to the lower edge of the braid.
Cut 2 satin ribbons and attach each to the ends of the chain. Secure the ends with a cross stitch to give the necklace an even more folkloric look.
Finished statement necklace.
