Did the college jackets lose their hype? Don't think so. I think there is always a place for a cool college jacket in every season. The greatest thing about the sporty piece is that it's so versatile. In Fashion industry there are no rules about the color or form. Leather, spikes, lace... Everything is possible. Btw the first Letterman jackets were created for the best Harvard University players in 1865. So today I am sharing with you a great DIY project I've originally created for the German fashion magazine COUCH. Follow this this step by step tutorial and turn your simple blouson into a very cool Letterman jacket.

So today I am sharing with you a great DIY project I've originally created for the German fashion magazine COUCH. Follow this this step by step tutorial and turn your simple blouson into a very cool Letterman jacket.
You will need: simple blouson, 2 small zippers for pockets, 1 jacket zipper, matching threads and needle, appliqué, cotton fabric for the pockets, pencil, pins, scissors, ruler and of course a sewing machine...
First mark the center front (CF) and the opening of the slash pockets as shown on this picture
Cut along the pencil marks
The ends of the pockets should have a Y-cut
Now secure all seams with the zigzag stitch
...
Now attach your appliqué with the iron or sewing machine (depends on the type of your appliqué). You can create your own appliqué design by combining letters with figures. Usually the Lettermans have their appliqués on the right chest but you can put yours where every you think looks the best
Pin the jacket zipper to the center front and sew along it with the zigzag stitch
Now attach the zipper to the slash pocket with the pins. Take your time. To make a slash pocket requirers some sewing skills. If you a newbie to the DIY world I would suggest you skip this part. If your want to learn how to make one here is a great site for tutorials: www.bit.ly/1lpNhQj
Sew on the zipper with the zigzag stitch
Cut 2 half moons out of the cotton fabric. The pocket lining should be able to cover the opening. After your secured the lining with the pins sew along the edges with the regular stitch. Basically the lining will be attached to the garment. That means the seam will be visible on the other side. So try to make a pretty stitch :)
And this is how the finish design looks like. I hope your guys like this tutorial
