Diy Christmas Stockings

Just like you had when you were growing up!

We had felt stockings growing up and I always loved mine so much. So this year for my baby daughter's first Christmas I decided to make new stockings. The idea is to use felt fabric for the main stocking part but I couldn't find that here in Argentina so I used "vegetable cloth" which is similar. I then cut out shapes from old scraps of shiny and soft fabrics to make the Christmasy designs. The snowman is my husband's, the gingerbread girl is my daughter's, the Christmas ball ornaments are mine, and the Christmas tree was a homenage to my first stocking as the presents are the original felt presents taken off of my childhood stocking. These didn't take long to do at all and I had a lot of fun making them! I first cut out the stocking boot design, then decorate the stocking before sewing them right sides together and then turning them right sides out. I added the ribbon loop to the corner before sewing them together to make sure they would be extra-strong and I sewed an extra-strong stitch along the bottom and toe of each stocking, just in case Santa Clause wants to fill them with heavier items. Since I didn't want to sew the borders of each cut fabric design, I used a lighter to lightly heat the edges so that they wouldn't fray. You can use the glitter and fabric paint to add details, like I did on the snowman, the tree and the gingerbread girl, or even to add each family member's name. HAVE FUN!!!
