Description

A fun way to make your own faux cactus plant using pool noodles!

Instructions

To begin making your cactus you'll need to secure your dowels in your pot. I did this by taping the dowels where I wanted them and spray the inside of the pot with spray foam. Spray a few oblong shapes on a piece of saran wrap for your cactus arms.

Let you foam spray set over night and attach your pool noodles to the dowels. Add some foam to the top of each pool noodle to round off the top of your cactus.

Following that draw some lines with a marker or pen and cut them out with a utility knife.

Cut your lines going all the way down your pool noodles.

Than mix a bowl of plaster of paris and brush it onto your cactus. When mixing your plaster of paris mix the powder in cold water and in a disposable bowl. Once it dries solid it's impossible to remove. I rinsed my dishes outside as well.

Following that sand down any rough edges.

and give it a coat of paint. I used a few different shades of green.

Cut up an old brush and glue it onto the cactus to make spikes.

Than use some hotglue to attach your cactus arms and that's it! There's a lot of drying times involved but totally worth it!

I have it displayed in my living. My husband always jokes about how it grew an inch or two! :D :D Happy Crafting!
