a really fun way to use stickers and make awesome gift boxes or store things in.
a really fun way to use stickers and make awesome gift boxes or store things in.
first you need a box. if you're really cheap like me you can use an old shoebox that's lying around or you can just buy an unpainted cardboard box at any craft store.
now just paint the box any solid color you want (i prefer black b/c it makes bright stickers *pop). i used acrylic paint on mine, but if you have spray paint lying around it will save you a lot of time and effort on this step. *if using acrylic paint i highly suggest using a foam brush to minimize streaks. so just paint the box inside and out (two coats for even coverage) and wait for it to dry.
now find some really neat stickers you want to deck out this box with!! you may need a lot of stickers depending on the size of the box and how closely you want them spaced together. i used a tub of foam stickers i found at dollar tree so it was very inexpensive and i had plenty of stickers to cover the whole box. i also like the foam stickers because they add fun texture. so with the lid on the box apply the stickers as desired. *MAKE SURE THE LID IS ON THE BOX DURING THIS STEP SO NO STICKERS ARE APPLIED WHERE THE LID FITS ONTO THE BOX!!!
now you need to seal the paint and the stickers so they don't just peel off or get damaged. you can use mod podge, but it tends to be a little tacky after it dries making the box difficult to open so i recommend using a spray finishing sealer. if you want a shiny finish use glossy sealer. if you want it clear and not shiny use matte sealer.
let sealer dry and there you have it!! fill it with gifts for a friend or use it for crafty storage!!
