About

This 50 cent recycled/upcycled wooden Christmas decorative box was magically turned into an organizing container for my sister's craft room table. Like many projects, this one is completed in stages, paint and then wait for the glue to dry, Mod Podge and then wait for that to dry. But all told there's very little time involved with this project.

You Will Need (7 things)

  • Scissors Or A Paper Cutter
  • Dictionary
  • Paint
  • 2 Paint Brush one for Mod Podge, one for the paint
  • Chalkboard Paint
  • Wooden Box
  • Mod Podge

Steps (8 steps, 20 minutes)

  1. 1

Find a wooden box at a thrift store. Sand it down and paint it your favorite color, inside and outside. It took several coats to cover this red!

  2. 2

Then I added an owl cutout from a card that was made for me on one side. I attached all the paper pieces with Mod Podge.

  3. 3

    The owl is so cute!!

  4. 4

On two other sides I used dictionary pages that had the initials of the person I was making it for.

  5. 5

(and I lucked out because these pages also had the first and last names of the recipient!)

  6. 6

If you don't want to go with the initials route, try to get a few meaningful words.
Cut the page to fit the box, then Mod Podge it on!

  7. 7

The fourth side I slathered with chalkboard paint. I so love it!

  8. 8

Now just apply several more coats of Mod Podge and then who need to decide WHOOOOO to give it to!
