MINT CHOCOLATE CHIP ICE CREAM SANDWICH PILLOW *N hook *Dark brown yarn- approx. 6 ozs. *Light mint color yarn- 2-1/2 ozs. *Straight pins *Polyfil stuffing *Completed size measures 12” in diameter Use 2 strands of yarn together throughout pattern
TOP & BOTTOM PIECES With dark brown yarn, make a basic circle according to Basic Circle pattern. RND 14: Work basic edging around, join, fasten off. Work another circle in same fashion as one just completed. You may want to slightly hand block pieces, again, after the edging round has been added. MINT ICE CREAM CENTER RING NOTE: You will work in Back lps only throughout, beg with row 2. ROW 1: With light mint color yarn, ch 8, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hk, 1 sc in next 4 ch, dec over last 2 ch, ch 1, turn, (7 sts). You should always have 7 sts at end of each row. ROW 2: Dec over 1st 2 sts, 1 sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in last st, ch 1, turn. ROW 3: 2 sc in 1st st, 1 sc in next 4 sts, dec over last 2 sts, ch 1, turn. ROWS 4-62: Rep rows 2 and 3 alternately. Fasten off leaving strand of yarn for sewing. Row 62 is now right side. Sew rows 1 and 62 together with right facing. Next, with yarn needle and single strand of dark brown yarn, make single French knots around entire ring. Place knots with spacing and positions as desired. ASSEMBLY Take one basic circle, lay flat, with wrong side facing up. Now, for correct sewing placement, stand ring on top of circle, rows running vertically. Align the bottom edge of ring, around, so that it falls directly between the 13th round and the 14th edging round. This will allow for the edging round to extend out and over center ice cream ring after pillow is complete. Next you are going to use straight pins to attach ring to circle piece. As you pin, you will note that your ring will automatically begin to flatten, with the top edge pressed toward the center of the circle. Continue pinning ring to circle, between the 13th and 14th rounds, until ring is secured. Keep in mind that you may have to do some “easing” or stretching with either the circle or center ring piece as you work. Now sew ring to circle piece. When you have completed this step, take the other basic circle piece, right side up, and place on top of center ring. Since ring is already sewn into place, you should not have to pin this edge of the ring to circle. Now, as before, holding edge of ring positioned between 13th and 14th rounds, sew to circle, around, stuffing pillow before completely sewing closed. Do not overstuff, allowing the center ice cream ring to slightly bulge out as you press down gently on the top and bottom circle. BASIC CIRCLE *N hook *Worsted weight yarn: approx. 2-1/2 ozs. *Measures 12” in diameter RND 1: Ch 2, work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hk, or work a magic circle with 6 sc. Do not join but work continuously throughout. Mark beg of each round. RND 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sc) RND 3: *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next, rep from* around. (18 sc) RND 4: *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 2 sc, rep from* around. (24 sc) RND 5: *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 3 sc, rep from* around. (30 sc) RND 6: *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 4 sc, rep from* around. (36 sc) RND 7: *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 5 sc, rep from* around. (42 sc) RND 8: *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 6 sc, rep from* around. (48 sc) RND 9: *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 7 sc, rep from* around. (54 sc) RND 10: *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 8 sc, rep from* around. (60 sc) RND 11: *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 9 sc, rep from* around. (66 sc) RND 12: *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 10 sc, rep from* around. (72 sc) RND 13: *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 11 sc, rep from* around. (78 sc) Slightly hand block circle by laying flat and running hands across and outward on finished piece, in order to better shape and do away with any remaining kinks in the circle. BASIC EDGING *L hook- always use L hk for basic edging *In designated stitches, *ch 1, sl st in next st, rep from*
This little pillow is just the right size, not too big, not too small. It's great for a bed or the couch!
