Row of trees If you make a pattern with two halves of a dif- ferent tree, you can make a row of alternating symmetrical trees. With a quadruple accor- dion fold, you can make more complicated patterns, such as this one, in which two differ- ent halves create alternating figures.

Deer Use an X-Acto knife to cut the legs and the antlers. Until you gain some confidence, it’s safer to cut broad outlines, then go back to cut the details. Being able to cut pat- terns like this without much difficulty is the mark of an expert.

Hula Dancers This line of hula dancers evokes a lively luau so well that you can almost hear the dancers’ voices. With an X- Acto knife, cut the slashes that represent the leaves in the skirt, then cut the legs, and finally the rest.
