Steps (10 steps, 60 minutes)

  1. 1

The secret weapons to this DIY are stencils - they'll achieve beautiful decorations minutes!

  2. 2

To start, use rolled regal icing and take an egg shaped cookie cutter and cut your icing tops. Pop in the fridge to help cool them and maintain their structure before decorating.

  3. 3

In the meantime, do the same to your favourite biscuit recipe. I used shortbread for my biscuits [3oz plain flour, 3oz unsalted butter, 1oz caster sugar] as they are easy to make, quick to bake and maintain their shape nicely.

  4. 4

Once cooled in the fridge, remove the excess icing from the biscuit tops - this should come away easily.

  5. 5

Place a stencil over the top of one egg top (protect the other shapes with baking paper) and press down slightly to keep in place.

  6. 6

Using edible gold glitter spray, cover the surface of the stencil until you are happy with the colour.

  7. 7

Remove the stencil to reveal a beautiful gold glitter pattern underneath!

  8. 8

You can leave your decoration as it is, or add embellishments such as sugar balls and writing icing.

  9. 9

There are many different stencil designs that can create a beautiful range of finishes.

  10. 10

Create different effects using colour, embellishments and icing. A simple technique that takes no time - the perfect kitchen craft!
