As I sat in church next to one of my good friends once and a little boy went running past trying to find his momma. He was wearing the cutest felt bowtie. We both gushed over it and I promised her we would totally make our boys ones because (as always) "we can totally make that". It's not the can we but will I ever actually do it ha! More then six months later I went on a bowtie making marathon! Once I made one and saw how cute it was that was the end of it. I had to have one in every color.

But before we go any further I have to explain the name for this post. Being Irish I LOVE Irish names. Chris and I went with extremely American names for our kiddos (no qualms with this, love them all!) but I thought we would slip in a Cillian (Kill-ian) in there somewhere or maybe a Diarmuld (deer-mid). I just love the meaning behind them. Diarmuld means "No Enemies" and was the name of early kings, legendary heroes & saints, pretty cool eh? But Irish names come with the complete inability of almost anyone off the Emerald Isle being able to pronounce them. But I wanted to slip it in somewhere so here it is! (All the steps are in the pictures)

  2. Small bowtie1

Cut a long strip of felt 13X15 inches Cut tip into a point but folding the piece in half lengthwise and cutting at an angle.

  3. Small bowties2

Fold back on top of itself. The top should measure 85 inches

  4. Small bowtie3

double back again. The end with the point should hang off the right end slightly

  5. Small foldover4

I like to be able to see the flat end and like the angled end to hang off but that is personal preference. You go with what suits you!

  7. Small bowtie6

Pinch at center. I REALLY love to tie some twine right around the middle at this point. It keeps it so nice and tight and crisp. Just trim your the twine down nice and short. Wrap a rectangle of felt around the center. Do NOT hot glue the front and leave on end loose.

  8. Small bowties7

Put a dab of hot glue on top of the already secured end. Attach your alligator clip to here.

  9. Small bowtie8

Open the clip and wrap the flap of felt over the bottom piece of the clip. Secure with a dap of glue

    All done!
