About
on the 2nd January 2017, I decided I needed a challenge to see what level my bladesmithing skills were at. After 20+ hours (2 solid days work) this is the result I got, which I'm rather proud of.
Made from a billet of 75Ni8 and EN42j steels (6 layers, alternating) I firewelded them together in the forge, folded a couple of times, twisted and then added some wrought iron to the outer faces and forged it into shape of a small gyuto style knife. I have decided to make the blade as a long overdue Thank-you gift for a couple of friends who live overseas.
I'm happy to answer your questions and help dispel any myths or misinformation that may present itself,
