This beautiful bunting will be completely unique to you as you chose what elements to "print" using the Cyanotype sensitizer set. I used some treasures we collected with my children on a walk, making this bunting a sweet memory of a time spent together as a family...
This beautiful bunting will be completely unique to you as you chose what elements to "print" using the Cyanotype sensitizer set. I used some treasures we collected with my children on a walk, making this bunting a sweet memory of a time spent together as a family...
The very first step for this craft is to get the Cyanotype solutions ready. Simply fill the 2 bottles with water, shake and let it rest. They recommend leaving it for 24 hours before using. When you are ready to start your crafts, get all your supplies into a dark room. In a container mix equal parts of the two solutions to create the cyanotype sensitizer (the sensitizer will only be stable for 2-4 hours).
Get your flags ready for the bunting by cutting pieces of card into triangles. Sensitize the flags by coating them with the Cyanotype sensitizer using a painting brush. Let the flags dry in the dark.
Get some flags out and quickly set a flower or leaf on top. I used a piece of glass (from a picture frame) to hold the material in place on top of the flags. The flags are a light green color at the beginning of the process.
Leave outside in full sun until the flags turn a grey/brown color.
Remove glass and flowers or leaves and rince the flags in cold water for 5 minutes. Don't let the flags in the water for any longer or you will lose the beautiful dark blue color. Air dry the flags
Once the flags were dry I set them under a pile of heavy books for a few days to get them flat.
Glue a ribbon at the top of the flags to create a bunting.
