Description

Instructions

  1. Small image1 1278790753

I started off with an old lemon juice container that I had rinsed out. If you can’t find them you could always use a real lemon, but it would eventually go bad.

  2. Small image2 1278790786

Or if you want to be creative you could use other household items- such as light bulbs

  3. Small image3 1278790821

First to make the girl, draw a cute little girl face on the lemon. If you want you could cut off the green top to the container, but you would want to cover up the hole somehow; which for the guy is covered by the hat anyways.

Next, use a hot glue gun to glue a bow onto her head.

For the guy I used a taller lemon container.

To start the hat for the guy lemon, I used a plastic tube with a rubber stopper on top. I found it in my Dad’s pile of random junk so it might be easier to just find some cardboard and use that instead. Just make sure that it fits on the lemon man’s head.

To make the brim of the hat, trace around the top of the hat on a piece of cardboard, and then make a larger circle around it.

  8. Small image8 1278791029

Cut out the outside circle and use tape or a hot glue gun to attach it to the hat top.

  9. Small image9 1278791061

To cover the outside of the hat I used some black silk-like fabric leftover from making my prom dress, but an easier method would be to use black construction paper.

  10. Small image10 1278791087

Cut from the fabric circle somewhat larger than the top of the hat, and glue it to the top of the hat with the excess hanging off the sides.

  11. Small image11 1279398047

Then cut a strip of fabric to fit exactly around the sides of the hat. Glue it around the sides, tucking the excess from the top in as you go around. It should look like this after you’re done. It’s ok if it doesn’t fit all the way around or if it looks messy…like mine. Cause we’re gonna cover it up in a second.

  12. Small image13 1278791210

Make a bow out of fabric or ribbon and glue it onto the side, covering the seam. I glued mine on vertically to better cover my messy gluing >-< , but for a more traditional look I think most hats like this have it horizontal.

  13. Small image14 1279398050

Next cut a circle about twice as wide as the brim with a hole in the middle that can fit over the top of the hat.Slip it over the top and glue along the sides of the brim as shown in the picture. Then press it down to make sure its flat.

  14. Small image17 1278791315

Glue the width of the inside of the brim (on the bottom of the hat). And press a section of it down flat.

  15. Small image19 1278791363

Do this all the way around, making sure the whole thing is flat, until it looks like so.

  16. Small image20 1278791390

Make another bow and glue it onto your lemon guy for a bowtie.

Now he needs is a face...

Finished! ^_^ Hopefully it was understandable, it is my first one. And sorry that the girl doesn’t look so girly I couldn’t come up with any good ideas, but if you have any please post them!
