Custom Tamagotchi Charms

Inspired by the tamagotchi franchise, and "Hot topic" jewelry

I cannot tell you how many times I've gotten complements on earrings like this. I was inspired by a pair of tamagotchi/digital pet earrings that "Hot topic" was selling.
I had made some with fairies, alternate Pokémon, regular Pokémon, and one with a mermaid. I turned the fairy set into earrings. However the fairy tamagotchi earrings could not withstand the test of time, so I made another set with mermaids.
Notes:
-This project is kind of difficult due to the fact that Shrinky dink plastic, well shrinks 2/3 from the size of the original drawing. So I recommend using a ruler or something to help you figure out the conversions of how much your drawing will shrink and drawing your ideas out before you actually start drawing on the plastic.

-if your gonna color your projects with acrylic paint, wait til after the project had been taken out of the oven and cooled. It's a bit of a no brainer but I had to learn the hard way.

-if you paint with nail polish like I did, paint on the side that you didn't draw on, the nail polish/ the chemicals in the nail polish can remove or smear the sharpie drawing.

You Will Need (11 things)

  • Clear Shrinky Dink Plastic
  • Sharpies
  • Hole Puncher
  • Wire and Wire tools
  • Acrylic paint or Nail polish If you use nail polish make sure to use it on the side you didn't draw on
  • Jewelry Findings Jump rings, earring hooks, whatever you wanna use
  • Modge Podge You can use matte or sparkle but be warned, they could stick to stuff, or the drawing could peel off.
  • Uv Resin I have used this before to help preserve the drawing but it's expensive
  • Uv Light If you use the uv resin
  • Paper If you wanna draw out your ideas before you actally draw on the shrinking plastic.
  • Pencils And an eraser.
