ok, so i know there are lots of cupcake shaped pin cushions around, but i thought this would be a cute addition. hope you like it!
so i found these flower fun cups by wilton and they were so adorable i had to do something with them, and i'm always losing my needles...of course that meant i had to turn them into pin cushions!
Once you get all your materials together, you'll need to make a circle of fabric about three times the size of the cupcake holder. i traced a giant mug to make my circle.
stich aruond the edge of your circle. one you get all the way around, cinch it a little
now fill your partiallty sinched circle with the sand. keep cinching as you go, and be careful- this part can get messy! you use coarse sand because it helps keep your needles sharp.
once you've filled your circle as much as you can, cinch it all the way and sew it closed.
now time to make the cherry on top! pick out your favorite button and make a stem for it out of wire
look how cute! you can either thread the wire through the fabric, or just glue the finished cherry on top
now, i have a picture of me hot gluing the cushion into tyhe cup, but i found that hot glue isn't strong enough to hold a bag of sand. sobo glue, however, works wonderfully, even though it takes a lot longer to dry- about 20 minutes
now all you have to do is put your needles in their brand new cushion!
