You Will Need (11 things)

  • Saran Wrap
  • White Glue
  • Paper
  • Acrylic Paint
  • Paper
  • Gesso
  • Blank Tag
  • Garden Wire
  • Satin Glaze
  • Crackle Glaze
  • Rubber Stamps

Steps (13 steps, 60 minutes)

  1. 1

I began by wrapping an old china cup and saucer in saran wrap/clingfilm. this will protect them. i then dipped small torn pieces of copier paper into white glue and lay them over the cup and saucer. I covered the whole thing and left to dry before adding more layers. in total i added 5 thin layers. i then carefully peeled the papier mache away from the cup and took out the saran wrap. i added a wire handle at this point and then added 2 coats of geso.

  2. 2

Next I painted both pieces black, then added a layer of crackle glaze. Once that was dry I added a coat of white and left it to dry so the cracks could appear.

  3. 3

i now had a fully crackled cup and saucer

  4. 4

i built up delicate colour with chalk acrylic paint. the paint was diluted with water so the colour built up gradually.

  5. 5

I coloured some tissue paper and stamped some leaves onto the dry paint.

  6. 6

These were cut out and glued to the cup and saucer. I then sealed n=both pieces with satin glaze.

  7. 7

I blended several green acrylics onto a tag, before using a brayer to roll some white over them. i then stamped and coloured in some flowers.

  8. 8

i added corrugate card and a sentiment.

  9. 9

I finished the tag with the stamped image of the owl and some fibres.

  10. 10

using left over tissue paper I created a little pouch, into this I inserted a single tea bag.

  11. 11

i added the sentiment to the outside and also attached a small tag to the string of the tea bag.

  12. 12

To finish the cup i stamped and coloured this little birdhouse to hang from the handle.

  13. 13

Here it is all together. to complete the gift you could add a cookie wrapped in deli paper.
