Upcycle your old shirts into t-shirt yarn and learn to crochet this ombre rug!
Upcycle your old shirts into t-shirt yarn and learn to crochet this ombre rug!
Start off by chaining 6.
Connect the circle using a slip stitch.
Chain 2 and double-crochet (dc) in the same stitch. 2 dc in each stitch around, connect to the top of the chain with a slip stitch. (12 stitches)
Chain 2. dc in the same stitch, dc in next stitch. 2 dc, 1 dc (repeat until end of round, connect with slip stitch). (18 stitches) Chain 2. dc in the same stitch. dc in next two stitches. 2 dc, 1 dc, 1dc (repeat until end of round, connect with slip stitch). (24 stitches) Chain 2. dc in the same stitch. dc in next stitch. 2 dc, 1 dc (repeat until end of round, connect with slip stitch). (36 stitches) Depending on how thick you’ve made your t-shirt yarn, you may need to alter the pattern a bit. If it starts to ruffle, you can add more single stitches between the double dc’s. That’s what I did, which is why my stitches increase by weird amounts.
I switched colors at this point. Chain 2. dc in the same stitch, dc in next stitch. 2 dc, 1 dc (repeat until end of round, connect with slip stitch). (54 stitches)
Chain 2. dc in the same stitch, dc in next stitch. 2 dc, 1 dc (repeat until end of round, connect with slip stitch). (81 stitches)
I switched colors again here. Chain 2. dc in the same stitch, dc in next stitch. 2 dc, dc in next two stitches (repeat until end of round, connect with slip stitch). (107 stitches)
Chain 2. dc in each stitch, all the way around. Connect with a slip stitch. (107 stitches) I switched to my fourth and final color again here. Chain 2. dc in same stitch, dc in next stitch. 2 dc, dc in next four stitches (repeat until end of round, connect with slip stitch). (128 stitches) Chain 2. dc in each stitch, all he way around. Connect with a slip stitch. Finish off. (128 stitches)
That's it! Set it up by your door, in your bathroom, wherever!
