Crochet Hook Case
For crochet on the move

About
I have recently taken up crochet and am really enjoying it! So I bought a set of hooks but they came in this horrible plastic case, so I decided to make a nice fabric one.
I really like working with tartan print materials as they already have a nicely marked out grid that really helps when measuring and cutting.
Top tip: If you have a cat then let them get into at least one of your photos . It makes them feel as if they are “helping” and keeps a grumpy mood at bay.

You Will Need (9 things)
- Cat
- Sewing Machine
- Ribbon
- Patterned Fabric
- Plain Fabric
- Thread
- Bias Tape
- Chalk
- Scissors
Steps (13 steps, 120 minutes)
-
1
Cut pattern material to about two and a half times the length of your hooks. This should give plenty of extra material for seams and any extra can be trimmed off as you go
-
2
Cut your plain material to about an inch shorter than the length of your hooks
-
3
Fold edges and iron down on both pieces of material
-
4
Sew around the edges of both pieces of material. This helps to prevent fraying and makes them easier to pin later
-
5
Take a piece of bias tape and sew along one of the long edges of your plain material (on the front) using zigzag stitch
-
6
Take a small piece of bias tape and fold the ends under and stitch at both ends onto the pattern material on the outside. This will make a loop to thread a cord though to tie it closed later. You could sew on some ribbon if you prefer.
-
7
Pin the plain and pattern material together, and pin bias tape around the edges (see pic)
-
8
Sew bias tape down using zigzag stitch
-
9
Space your hooks out in the pocket as shown and put a little chalk mark where you want to sew in the divides for each section. Remember to allow more room for big hooks and less room for little ones.
-
10
Remove hooks and use a ruler to mark out the divides
-
11
Using straight stitch sew along the chalk lines.
-
12
Use a damp cloth to remove any excess chalk from your material when you are done
-
13
Take picture with cat (optional)
