Before I begin I would like to say that this initially came from following someone else's pattern for the miniature santas, I then used the pattern to go on to design the christmas trees. So To make the santas clauses, follow this crochet pattern linked below :) http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/80966AD.html Apologies for the lack of photographs but I did not plan to post this. Im confident it is a simple enough project that you could figure it out :) Have Fun

Instructions

  1. Step 1. Make 5 santa clauses using the pattern linked above. you can make more or less depending on how long you want your bunting to be. Where the face has been made in this pattern it tells you to make it using white wool, I used pink wool because i wanted the faces to stand out. I also know i used a little improvisation when it came to tiny aspects of this project so all outcomes should vary :)

  2. Step 2. Once you have created the santas clauses, go back to the same pattern and crochet 5 more santa bodies, BUT using green wool instead of red. This will be the main for your christmas trees :)

  3. Step 3. Now crochet 5 more legs from the same pattern, But using Red wool instead of green. These will be the bases of your christmas trees.

  4. Step 4. Stuff your christmas trees and sew one of the red bases to the centre of the bottom of your christmas tree whilst at the same time sewing together the entire opening, the same as you would with the santa legs.

  5. Step 5. DECORATING! You can decorate the trees how you like, but i wanted tinsel and a star. These were really simple to make. Tinsel - Chain stitches! just keep on chain stitching until you have a chain as long as you want your tinsel (wrap it around a few times to test its long enough) Then just pin and sew it around your trees :) Star - The star is essentially just a magic ring :) I chained 3 stitches and slip stitched them together, I then single crocheted into the ring until I had a circle I was satisfied with and sewed it to the top of the trees.

  6. Step 6. More Chaining! Now you need to string them all together. Lay your santas and trees out in a line side by side. space them as far apart as you want them to be when strung up. Now measure the distance between the top of your first tree/santa and the last as they're laid out, and chain stitch a chain about 6 inches longer than that measurement, to leave enough to tie your bunting up Once you have got to the end of your chain, turn and single crochet back along your chain until the end. keep turning and chaining until your string is as thick as you want it to be. Personally i chained three times alternating red green red wool.

  7. Now just sew your santas and trees to your string and you have your beautiful christmas bunting/garland to hang anywhere. You could put it on your christmas tree or you could even make santa christmas tree decorations by chaining smaller chains and sewing them in loops to the tops on the santas :) Have fun! enjoy and happy holidays!
