This cute crochet beanie pattern is perfect for boys and girls, and women and men! It can vary widely in look and style just by chaining the colors, making it ideal for anyone. Sizes: Newborn to 3 Months (14”), 3 to 6 Months (15.5”), 6 to 12 Months (17”), Toddler (19.5”), 5T to Adult (22.5”). Special stitch Extended Single Crochet (esc): Insert hook in next stitch or chain, yarn over and pull up loop (2 loops on hook), yarn over and draw through 1 loop (1 chain made), yarn over and pull through 2 loops. Notes: 1. Chain 1 at beginning of rounds does not count as a stitch. When joining at the end of rounds, join to first stitch. 2. I worked this hat by changing colors of yarn after every two rounds. Due to the height of the stitches, I find that it works well to cut the yarn at every color change, before joining the new color. If you choose to carry the yarn loosely up the inside of the hat, be sure to carry it very loosely so that it doesn’t pull/pucker. 3. To change colors, I find it best to begin the new yarn during the slip stitch at the join, before the new round for the new color. Ex: finish the last stitch of the round before the one that you want to change colors for. Remove hook from loop, drop old yarn, insert into first stitch at the beginning of the round to join, pick up new yarn and finish slip stitch. Beginning working new round with new color. 4. To make this hat slouchier, like the blue and brown hat pictured above, just work more length before beginning the edging rounds. Yarn requirements: worsted weight yarn in 3 colors. (Or, any color combination or solid color of your choice.)
