I was having a bad face day so this was just easier XD Sooooo it's yet another very original t-shirt mod /sarcasm. I have a lot of t-shirts from over the years that people have given me as gifts that I hate with a passion so I decided why not actually use the items instead of letting them sit and gather dust, bugs, and prevent them from being attacked by the bear that lives in my closet. He steals all of my best clothes you know.

So your first step is to collect your victim, and mine was this 'lovely' top that my aunt gave me that is horrifically unflattering in nearly every way possible. I'd suggest you try your's on first to see how it works for you. My shirt was a rib knit meaning it had a lot of stretch to it and due to that it drapes very nice. I'd also suggest making sure it's pretty long so you have extra fabric for your cowl.

Next thing I did was put it on and measure down from the tab on the shirt to see how much I could cut off without exposing my bewbs, and still have room for hemming which for me was 6 1/2". My shirt was huge so for mine I took 2" off each side from the wrist to the side seam as well to make it fit better. If your shirt already fits this is unnecessary. Oh and don't throw that bottom away. Rib knits (and knits in general) tend to shift and pop seams like crazy so I'd suggest using a zig zag stitch when trying to sew anything knit. Though you probably knew that so...yeah

Now taking that bottom portion you cut off line up the back of it with the center back (or cb) of your shirt and pin it to the neckline. When doing this make sure the bottom hem of the shirt is the portion that's gonna be on the outside to save yourself the hassle of hemming the cowl at the end. The dipping neckline of my shirt helped spread out the cowl a bit so I didn't have to gather, pleat, or dart it that much (I had to dart it once at the end). Try to distribute your cowl as evenly as possible and pin in place so you don't lose your mark. Sorry bout the dark picture the sun was going away by the time I got this monster pinned on well enough to stay.

From there it's elementary just sew it on, hem up the bottom and voila you have a new jacket. You can wear it up or down depending on how you like it, and if you're particularly scandalous you can go nude underneath (I'm kidding!). So yeah that's it for that project enjoy :)
