Fold the place mat into alternating rows. The cloth that is visible will be painted.
Using Simply Spray Soft Fabric Spray in Sand, coat the visible sections of the place mat.
Wait for the paint to dry and unfold the place mat.
Refold the place mat using alternating rows. You will paint these sections a different color.
Paint the visible sections of the new folds. Repeat steps 3 & 4, and paint the visible sections a third color. We chose Brite Orange and Chestnut Brown, along with Sand.
Here is the finished project. We used fall colors but you can use any combination!
