This was SUPER easy! I decided to start this project after viewing other coffee filter DIYs online and always enjoying the rustic feel it has.

You Will Need (6 things)

  • 1 Paint Brush
  • 1 Scissors
  • 1 Coffee Filter
  • 1 Pipe Cleaner(s)
  • 1 Mod Podge
  • 1 Glitter

Steps (2 steps, 40 minutes)

  1. 1

First thing I did was "scallop" the edges of the flowers by stacking up 3 or 4 filters, folding them and then cutting out a scalloped edge.

Next, soak all of your filters in warm water.

Make sure that when you take the filters out of the water, you scrunch them then lay them as flats as you can to dry. I really enjoyed the crumpled effect once dried!

Now, fold stacks of 3-4 filters and snip a tiny hole in the very middle of each filter. This is where the pipe cleaner will go through so do NOT make the hole very big.

Begin by stringing a filter on your pipe cleaner (the first one is the center of your flower) all the while twisting it.

When you go to twist the ends onto the pipe cleaner, you will not need tape as the filter pretty much stays put. After every layer (this one was 3), I wrapped a little bit of the pipe cleaner around the base just to secure it better.

Paint some Mod Podge on the tips and sprinkle with glitter!

I have also heard of people dip-dying the tips different colors or staining the whole filter with some dye/paint and water. Enjoy and let me know if you try it!
