I used four (4) coffee filters. One dyed light blue, dark blue, green (and dried in an accordion fold to get the lines) and tan/yellow. I dyed them and hung them from the oven roof to dry. I used the tutorial linked above as a basis for instruction, but in the end I just had to follow my own design. I ended up not cutting a spiral into the coffee filters at all, and just wrapped them around the branch. The stem is a real branch from my tree in the backyard. I painted it with green Grumbacher oil paint.
