Co+K Print Office Chairs

Give your shabby old chairs a custom makeover!

Our office chairs at CO+K HQ were beginning to look a bit shabby (it must have been from all the hard work we do here on the site ;) ), so we teamed up with Zazzle to give them a makeover using our own print and their new custom fabric collection. Tom set to work designing a cute print featuring our scissors and cute logo of all the crafts we do and then I got busy reupholstering. Note of warning: the original fabric was not fireproof, so we had to treat it to make it safe for upholstery use.

Description

Our office chairs at CO+K HQ were beginning to look a bit shabby (it must have been from all the hard work we do here on the site ;) ), so we teamed up with Zazzle to give them a makeover using our own print and their new custom fabric collection. Tom set to work designing a cute print featuring our scissors and cute logo of all the crafts we do and then I got busy reupholstering. Instructions

  1. Small 110101 2f2015 07 26 160515 chairs

Start by deconstructing the original chairs while keeping a mental note (or scribbled note) of how it was put together.

  2. Small 110101 2f2015 07 27 114816 img 0979

We had to unscrew two bars and then seam rip the original fabric from the sides.

  3. Small 110101 2f2015 07 27 114824 img 0980

Lay the original seat covering down on a flat surface.

  4. Small 110101 2f2015 07 27 114846 img 0981

Lay the new fabric over the old cover, fold under the rough edge of the fabric so it matches the size of the original seat.

  5. Small 110101 2f2015 07 27 120134 img 0982

Making sure the fabric is taught and straight, pin the top and bottom of the fabric to the seat, in between the original stitched lines of the seat.

  6. Small 110101 2f2015 07 27 120149 img 0983

Sew along the previous stitched lines with your sewing machine.

  7. Small 110101 2f2015 07 27 120202 img 0986

Make sure all the lines look as neat as they did on the original cover.

  8. Small 110101 2f2015 07 27 144617 img 0987

Finally stitch around the outside edges of the seat to secure the new fabric in place.

  9. Small 110101 2f2015 08 26 173427 img 3577

Now the tricky bit... put your new cover back on your old seats, making sure it's night and taught to sit on.
