For this costume, I decided to do the traditional Alex costume, but since I also liked the purple coat he wore in the music store scene, I also altered a coat. For the main costume: This bit is pretty easy, white slacks, white button shirt, black boots, braces, black bowler hat, cane, that iconic double eyelash on one eye, and I also added an eyeball on one cuff, as you catch a glimpse of this in one of the frames. For the coat: this is a bit more difficult, unless you manage to find a double breasted purple coat with white trim. I uses a tan mac (I believe his was purple velvet - but I was a poor student at the time). I dyed the coat purple with RIT fabric dye. I then added the white trim on the lapel and cuffs. In order to make the coat double breasted, I cheated a bit. I used velcro to pull it in tighter, and then added the big white buttons accordingly. You could make this coat much better in actuality, but as I was throwing it together for a costume I didn't put in the time or money.
