This is something that I like to do so that the crochet hook sits more naturally in my hand. It also allows me to work for a longer period of time because I don't have a metal rod digging into my hand.
This is something that I like to do so that the crochet hook sits more naturally in my hand. It also allows me to work for a longer period of time because I don't have a metal rod digging into my hand.
These are your ingredients.
Cut your clay block down to whatever amount you think that you will use. I used about half of mine. Then you roll it out until it's a very long thin snake.
Then you wind your clay around the handle of the hook going in whatever direction you want. I used sort of a diagonal angle to get my clay the way that I wanted it to sit.
Then you find a clever way to bake it as per the instructions on your clay. I didn't want to have any flat sides, so I set up a cooling rack inside of a cookie rack and sort of hung my hook of that in such a way that the handle was in the air and would heat evenly without any dents forming.
And voila! You're done. Now you just have to let it cool and you can get to work on all of those long crochet projects. Think blankets and afghans and the like.
