This is a project that I had a lot of fun with. I used 33 red yoyos for this garland.
First I cut 5 1/2 inch circles of varying red fabrics to make the yoyos with. I made over 100 of these red yoyos but only used 33 in the garland. I'm in the process of making another garland right now - er, well, a little later after I write up this tutorial. I'm new at this so I hope all this makes sense.
I bought a Christmas bead garland at Kohls and cut it apart so I could use them. I looked at beads at the craft store but it would have cost an unreal amount of money to make this garland with glass beads! You could even use handmade beads made of clay or paper!
Thread a needle with some embroidery thread or other equally strong thread. Cut enough thread for as long as you want your garland plus a few feet extra.
Make a knot at the end of the thread and sew into the yoyo at the 2 o'clock position. Sew through the yoyo and exit through the 10 o'clock position. This will help keep the yoyo from flipping to the backside when hanging.
Add a few beads...
Continue adding beads and yoyos until you have the length of garland that you want. Enjoy! I know I was thrilled when I found something new to do with these fun yoyos.
