Hi there! Why? It is cold and Christmas is right around the corner, so the right time for this great project with this sweet outcome! :D I saw the picture of this sweetie on Pinterest, I think I liked it and even pinned it a couple of times. But I knew I had to make it someday. This Winter was the winter my Moosedeer was born ;) What? The pattern (see "How?" for the link) is actually for a moose.. But I had to make him a nose, so now it looks more like a reindeer. That's why I called him a Moosedeer! (Eeldier for eland and rendier in Dutch) How? The pattern for the moose is written by Evelyn. I've already praised her work in my Pooky project (http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/pooky-garfields-teddy). She is an Amazing crochet artist (so just look at it, it is really inspiring!) This is the website for the pattern: http://aphid777.deviantart.com/art/Crocheted-Moose-Number-2-352019758 Her pattern was perfect! I did have to change the horns, just because I didn't have enough yarn >_<* What a stupid reason, right? I used 4 strings of thick yarn! So he is quite big! I ordered a lot of yarn, because of that I had to order even more! The cream yarn was gone, so had to improvise and make smaller horns. I crocheted his eyes and his nose and that were the only things I changed. I also crocheted the light brown part of the feet, above the hooves, in the back loop. This way the colour change doesn't look like those 'v's I hate (see more about me hating those 'v's in my Escher bag (here: http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/escher-bag-tapestry-crochet). I knitted him a scarf so he won't get cold in the winter! ;) Really happy with this fellow! Every time I look at him, he makes me smile! We don't have a tree yet, but my house feels all Christmassy thanks to him. As you can see in the last pic, my cat likes him too. He is Monster approved (which always makes me feel better about my projects.. Weird, I know, but it does). I hope you like him too! Xxx, Cindy
