Always wondered how traditional American eggnog tasted like thanks to cartoons. This was the easiest recipe I found that can be modified. More alcohol, different alcohol, more or less sugar or cream.
Always wondered how traditional American eggnog tasted like thanks to cartoons. This was the easiest recipe I found that can be modified. More alcohol, different alcohol, more or less sugar or cream.
All my Ingredients ready
Add Milk, cloves, cinnamon and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla together and bring it slowly to a boil
Separate the eggs. (the whites are going to be used for a Pavlova)
Add the sugar
Whisk egg yolks and sugar together until it has a light colour.
Slowly combine the milk mixture with the egg. (better to let the milk cool a little before hand or else you get scrambled eggs) I noticed it froths up alot when you do it with the electric whisk
Pour the mixture back into the pot and cook over a medium heat with out letting the mixture boil for about 5 min. Let it cool for about an hour or else the alcohol will evaporate
Add the rum
Add the cream
Add more Vanilla
And lastly add the nutmeg Put it in the fridge overnight. (but sometimes I'm so anxious I serve mine after 4 hours.)
The finished 'nog served with a mince meat pie
