Chocolate bark is one of the simplest things to make. There are lots of different variations but I wanted to first introduce the classic, chocolate orange. This is great to make on your own, with children or with friends. The bark looks so pretty, it could even form a gift for someone on a special occasion.

Line a small, shallow baking tin with greaseproof paper.
Break the milk chocolate and put into a heatproof bowl over a pan of boiling water. Do the same with the white chocolate in a separate bowl. Place the pans on the hob over a low heat.
When the white chocolate is melted, remove from the heat and stir in the orange extract. Add a small amount of orange gel food colouring and stir thoroughly. I used red and yellow as I forgot to purchase orange!
When the milk chocolate is melted, remove from the heat and pour into the tin.
Spoon the white chocolate over the milk chocolate.
Using a cocktail stick or a slim knife, swirl the orange white chocolate into the milk chocolate. Set in the fridge for 30 minutes – 1 hour. This will depend on how thick your chocolate bark is.
Once set, break into pieces and enjoy!
