Description

I got this blue stars folding chair from a lady my mom works for. I hated the blue stars, so I tried my hand at my first slip cover. I think it came out really great.

Instructions

First I took the cover off and traced the outline of the large pieces. I used newspaper. I had to tape several pieces together for pieces large enough for my patterns.

Then I chose my fabric. I went with the same fabric I used on my footstool. That way they'd kinda matched. Because of the odd shapes of the pieces, I went with a yard an a half of fabric just to be safe. I end up not needing that much, so now I have about a half yard extra.

Then I cut out my patterns.

  4. Then I sewed everything together. This is the hard part. I used a zigzag stitch to keep the fabric from ripping apart when I sit in the chair.

I had to add these pieces on the sides. After I got everything put together and sat in the chair with the cover on, the fabric would pull down and I could see the blue under it. Didn't like that. So I added these in to cover it.

And that's it. It's not the greatest looking cover. But I like it. :)

I used my furry assistant to show how deep the chair sits.
