I recently held a surprise 60th birthday party for my mother and decided on a pink theme. I created this beautiful garland as something a bit different from your standard birthday decorations and my mother loves handmade things. This takes time but well worth the effort so leave plenty of time to create before your party or event. There are many different varations you could do colour and pattern let your imagination flow....
Start by cutting strips from your selected paper and card. I used my ruler to measure the length and width of my paper and card.I kept the length of the strips the same but varied thier width.I used my craft knife and ruler to cut the strips. Cut strips from your rolls of organza ribbon with scissors. Again I kept the length the same also oraganza ribbon is available in rolls of different width.
Take your string and begin looping and glueing your stips unto the string. I tied the strips of organza ribbon unto the string and for extra hold glued the knot in place.
I found it was better to hang the string across the room like a clothes line and begin glueing and looping the paper card and ribbon in place. This takes a little time but well worth the effort! You can leave the string up and the garland will dry overnight.
The garland looked gorgeous hanging above the table!
