We bought a neutral wooden CD rack at a cheap store (Xenos), painted it white on the inside and shiny black on the outside with some leftover paint (after sanding of course) and hung it on the wall of our kitchen. At first we put our little pots of seasonings, salt etc. in it but those are in a separate rack now. The CD rack now contains all kinds of nicknacks that have no other place in the kitchen. We used large screws to secure it to the wall. The pots and flasks of oil on top are quite heavy. The estimated time of this project is mainly sanding and painting. Of course you have to wait for the paints to dry and if you need more layers you have to sand more often. The stuff below the rack is standing on a normal shelve that we added later. Stuff seems to accumulate in our house. :-p
