For art class I had to make four pieces of art. This was my first project of the series. It is a self portrait that does not exactly reflect my appearance but it reflects my feelings and thoughts. I have a hard time at home and I had to express myself. I like to talk. A lot. About music, food, art, anything. I also talk a lot about my feelings. When I love something or someone everyone knows within seconds, but as soon as I get really angry, I just don't know how to say it. So I keep all my feelings for myself, and then I explode. And this was the result. It's called 'Caught in Freedom' because in this culture I'm free to say anything but I can't because I'm caught in my own 'cage of not expressing my anger'. It's a nude because I feel free when I'm not dressed. Like the hippies did back in the seventies. But I'm not naked all the time, you know, only in the bathroom and bedroom :p I wanted to try to work with different materials. That is why I used 'gypsum', sand, glue and modelling paste. It's kind of 3D.
