This was pretty easy and super cheap to make. The hardest part was keeping my little kitty from playing with the wires while I was working.

Description

This was pretty easy and super cheap to make. The hardest part was keeping my little kitty from playing with the wires while I was working.

Instructions

  1. Small 113708 2f2016 03 17 093415 dscf7201

First you need a T-shirt, I ended up using a large one, some thick cardboard, two wire coat hangers, some pliers and a needle and thread. First, very very carefully untwist the wire hangers. You'll need the pliers for it. You can see in the picture that I had already started one.

After you get the hangers untwisted, use the pliers to straighten out the bends in the corners. Then in the very middle of each pole, carefully twisted them around each other. This is so the poles don't slide or move around.

Now bend a slight curve in each pole so it's shaped like a dome.

I used about a 1& 1/2 foot square piece of cardboard for the base. You can go bigger or smaller if you wish. Now poke the ends of each pole into the corners of the cardboard.

Now using the pliers twist the ends so they don't pull out of the cardboard. You could put a piece of duct tape over the ends like I did too. It'll help keep the cardboard from sliding up the pole.

Now take your t-shirt and pull it over the dome shape. Make sure the neck hole isn't under the cardboard base. This will be the opening for your tent.

Now using you needle and thread, sew up the bottom of the shirt. I just sewed both ends of the shirt to the cardboard base.

Now sew up both of the sleeve holes.

I sewed the shirt around the poles in the front. Just so the shirt will hold in place.

I did the same for the top as well.

And ta-da! Your own DIY cat tent. Add a blanket or pillow and it's all ready for your little baby. My little kitten Cleo loves hers. She's always playing in it.
