This soap dispenser was inspired by one I saw on the Terrain at Styler's website that was made with a blue vintage mason jar. I made this one with a regular mason canning jar and the pump from a dollar store bottle of hand soap.If you look up the one on the Terrain website and decide you really want to use a vintage jar, there are some on etsy...I'm a little too cheap for that myself, though :)

Gather materials. You'll need a clean canning jar with both parts of the lid, a soap dispenser pump, a hammer, a nail, a knife, hot glue gun with glue sticks, and some liquid soap.
With a marker, make a dot in the center of the jar lid.
Take a look at your soap dispenser pump, and estimate the width/circumference of the part that is going to have to fit through the jar lid. Draw a circle around the center dot, marking the estimated circumference.
Line a nail up on the center dot and gently hammer it through the jar lid.
Continue to hammer holes through the lid within the circle that you marked. (The easiest way to do this is to sit with the jar held between your knees while you hammer).
Use a knife to carefully pierce the weakened area that you've created with the nail holes. You'll want to cut an x or a star.
Use a pen or brush handle to widen the cuts in the lid into one hole that will allow you to push your dispenser pump through until the part that would normally screw onto a soap bottle is flat against the lid.
Remove the soap dispenser pump from the lid and use the hammer to flatten the jagged metal pieces on the underside of the lid.
Stick the dispenser pump back through the lid. Use hot glue to line the rim of the top part of the pump, then press it flat to the jar lid. Once it's seated, go around one more time with the hot glue gun, adding glue to seal the dispenser in place and smoothing the glue with the metal tip of the gun.
Fill up the jar with liquid dish soap or hand washing soap.
Place the lid back on the jar and screw on the second piece of the lid. And you're done!
