I was planning on making coils of candy but after some technical difficulties I ended up with these! They are pretty easy, you just start with making lollypops but instead of putting the mixture into a mold you drizzle it into cold water.
I was planning on making coils of candy but after some technical difficulties I ended up with these! They are pretty easy, you just start with making lollypops but instead of putting the mixture into a mold you drizzle it into cold water.
First, you need to combine the sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt in a heavy bottomed pot.
Stir until the mixture starts to boil. You then need to cook without stirring until the mixture reaches 310 degrees Fahrenheit(or I think it would be 154 degrees Celsius, maybe?). Then take it off the burner and quickly add in your flavoring(you may need to use more than 1/4 teaspoons, mine didn't have too much flavor) and a few drops of food coloring if you want.
Now the fun part! Working quickly drizzle a spoonful of the mixture into the bowl of water. Once it hardens take it out and put it on some parchment paper. It helps if you put the water into the freezer for a bit.
Voila! You now have awesome candy to put on your cupcakes or anything else you want!
