I made this cookies-n-cream cake for my husband's birthday, inspired by camoflauge and his love for cookies-n-cream ice cream.

Enjoy!

You Will Need (6 things)

  • 1 Cake Batter (I prefer from-scratch)
  • 1 batch Whip Cream
  • 1 Your Favorite Frosting (mine is a cream cheese buttercream)
  • Gel Food Coloring (black, green, and yellow)
  • 8 Oreo Cookies
  • ½ Cake Batter (I prefer from scratch)

Steps (9 steps, 50 minutes)

  1. 1

Bake three layers of cake. (I made two chocolate layers and one vanilla layer, but you can do three layers of one flavor). Let cool.

  2. 2

Chop up Oreo cookies and add to a batch of freshly whipped cream.

  3. 3

Make your favorite frosting (mine is a cream cheese buttercream) and pipe a border on your first cake layer. This will keep your whipped cream from gushing out. Fill with cookie-n-cream whipped cream.

  4. 4

Continue filling and stacking the rest of your cake layers.

  5. 5

Divide the rest of your frosting into four portions (make one portion bigger than the others). Add cocoa powder to the first (largest) portion and whip until combined. Cover your cake with the chocolate frosting.

  6. 6

Smooth out the frosting with an offset spatula.

  7. 7

Tint the other three (smaller) portions of frosting black, green, and yellow-green (or any other color-combination you would like).

Then start piping the "petal" design - pipe small circles of frosting in a vertical row on the side of the cake. Then use an offset spatula to smear the circles into petals. Continue with the next vertical row where the previous row ends.

  8. 8

Continue piping the "petals" with randomly alternating colors all the way around the cake until you are done!

  9. 9

Cut your cake, serve, and enjoy!
