Description

Instructions

  1. Small img 1640

first! draw out them cameras! or print the copy i scanned and uploaded for ya.

  2. Small img 1641

And cut them out. The xacto knife comes in quite handy here, but a straight razor blade would do.

  3. Small img 1643

The circles take the most time.

  4. Small img 1665

So copy those stencils onto the black poster board paper and begin to cut them out. *there are four stencils provided, and I cut six out of the poster paper for my mobile*

  5. Small img 1667

~A tip for cutting out the circles~ cut out a space big enough to stick a hole punch into and punch holes around the edge of the larger circle you wish to cut out. This makes cutting out that circle a lot easier.

  6. Small img 1669

Use a push pin or safety pin to pop a hole into a corner of each camera and use a small pliers to put an O ring through that hole. Don't close them up for now, and set them aside.

Now for the wire work! So many factors determine how your mobile will hang: how heavy the cut-outs are, the gauge of the wire, the length of the wire, and where the cut-outs are placed. Therefore, you'll need to play around a bit with where the cut-outs are placed once the wire structure is made. THE PICTURE HERE represents how mine looks. the black is the wire, the green circles are were i made loops in the metal, and the tan is the chain on which the cameras hang.

  8. Small img 1644

so cut some wire. a few long pieces and a few shorter. i didn't use any specific lengths, just what looked good.

  9. Small img 1676

use the needle nose pliers to put a twist near the middle of the main wire.

  10. Small img 1677

then twist the ends around each other

  11. Small img 1650

and use the needle nose pliers again to curl up the ends.

  12. Small img 1652

slip a piece of wire through the loop on the end of the main piece of wire and bend it around itself to hold it in place. do this on each end of the main wire.

  13. Small img 1653

then curl up the ends of those wires. i made a loop in the middle of the longer branch too. If you are confused, take a look at the diagram in step 7.

  14. Small img 1670

Attach chain to the loops of the wire using more O rings. the chain can be any length, but i used about 1.5 inches for each camera.

  15. Small img 1671

To attach the cameras, hang the mobile (using some string) somewhere you can reach it. This way you can see how the mobile will hang and rearrange the cameras if necessary. Slip the O rings that are attached to the cameras on the ends of each chain, and leave them open until you are sure of the placement. Once your mobile hangs how you want it to, close them up using the small pliers.

  16. Small img 1672

Next, cut off a longer piece of chain to hang the whole mobile from (mine is about six inches) and attach and close off an O ring on one end. Next attach an O ring to both the main loop in the mobile wire, and the other end of the chain.

hang it up, and there you go!
