This is a great introduction to the wonderful world of cables. If you're daunted by the cables you can leave out row 5 and repeat row 1 instead. OR skip the pattern all together and create a garter stitch cosy. If you're completely new to cables I recommend checking out my How To Cable Without A Cable Needle tutorials.

Cast On 48 stitches.
Row 1: K5 P5 K6 P5 K6 P5 K6 P5 K5 Row 2: K5 K5 P6 K5 P6 K5 P6 K5 K5 Row 3: K5 P5 K6 P5 K6 P5 K6 P5 K5 Row 4: K5 K5 P6 K5 P6 K5 P6 K5 K5
Row 5: K5 P5 C3F P5 C3F P5 C3F P5 K5 Row 6: K5 K5 P6 K5 P6 K5 P6 K5 K5 Repeat these 6 rows 7 times. Make 2 pieces.
Place the two pieces together making sure both cable sides are facing each other. Sew the tops together and then bottoms together leaving a big gap in the middle for the handle and the spout. You should have some yarn from the cast on edges that you can use to sew the pieces together.
Then do a simple running stitch through the top (again measure it on the teapot to see what looks best) then pull the running stitch tight to create a ruffly look.
Weave in any ends - Then turn it proper side out. Voila! Tea cozy.
