my hair was growing evermore unbearable and I decided that attacking it with scissors was my best idea. (my hairdresser couldn't come up with a cut I liked)

Well All you really need to do is gather up a pair of scissors, a comb/brush, a razor blade, and a spotter to watch you do the back but only if your super nervous about cutting it and not being able to see it. You should probably have an idea of what you want.
For the first layer I used my ears to measure. I used two fingers to smooth it out and cut in and upward back angle so it gets kinda short in the back. Granted I'm not incredibly fond of how short it is in the back but it looks fine.
Next, The second layer! your gonna want to pin/clip up your first layer so it's not in the way. Okay so the second layer is going to be a little bit longer than twice the length of the first layer. I could have worded that better but I'm sleepy today so just pretend that I did lol. This layer is a little more choppy and A LOT less angled.
And the third layer is a little longer than shoulder length, But I love my hair long soooo there lol. This layer is the least choppy out of all of them.
for my bangs I pulled my part over and cut it across. I did this rather quickly actually because my spotter had to go home and I had to take her there.
Lastly I always braid the front left side of my hair and pin it back with bobby pins. I just don't like having both of my ears covered but you don't have to do this
