My jewellery gets so tangled up when it's in a box or a drawer so I'd been wanting a neat way to hang it. I noticed a few people using branches as necklace hangers and couldn't wait to make my own display to hold all of my jewellery.

Description

My jewellery gets so tangled up when it's in a box or a drawer so I'd been wanting a neat way to hang it. I noticed a few people using branches as necklace hangers and couldn't wait to make my own display to hold all of my jewellery.

Instructions

  1. Small img 1804

Start by finding a frame you love. I got a long rectangular one from Ikea. Pick a few branches which will work well.

  2. Small img 1803

Lay the branches across the frame to find the right width.

  3. Small img 1938

Use a Dremel to cut the branch.

  4. Small img 1939

Repeat for as many branches as you'd like in your display.

  5. Small img 1940

Paint the branches white or any colour you'd like.

  6. Small img 1943

Mark where you'd like the top branch to go on either side of the frame.

  7. Small img 1945

Draw a circle to match the thickness of the branch.

  8. Small img 1947

Use the dremel to carefully drill a shallow hole where the branch will go. It's best to drill a small amount, test your branch and then drill a bit more until it fits perfectly.

  9. Small img 1944

Test your branch to make sure it fits snuggly.

  10. Small img 1941

Use the jewellery to help you decide where each of the lower branches should be position and repeat the previous steps to drill holes in the frame.

  11. Small img 1948

Mark where you'd like each of the nails to be positioned on the branch with a pencil.

  12. Small img 1950

Use a pointy tool to make a hole for your nails.

  13. Small img 1949

Hammer the nails in place until they're secured.

  14. Small img 1951

Use a hot glue gun to stick the branches in to your frame.

I used sewing pins instead of nails for a few branches to hole pendants.
