This is an Irish fruit loaf. It is traditional that you place a coin or ring inside. If you get the piece with coin or ring it is good luck.

You will need

300 ml Tea Strong brew 110 g Raisins 150 g Sultanas 50 g Currants 50 g Dates Stoned & chopped 1 Egg 175 g Brown Sugar 1 tsp Mixed Spice Pinch Cloves 2 tsp Baking Powder 225 g Plain Flour

Honey Butter

Description

Instructions

1. 

   Soak the fruit in the tea overnight.

2. 

   Heat the oven 180 degrees. Mix the egg & sugar into the fruit.

3. 

   Mix in the flour, mixed spice, cloves, baking powder & flour. Stir to combine.

4. 

   Pour into a tin. Bake for 1 1/2 hrs, until cooked through.

5. 

   Remove from the oven & brush the top with honey. Allow to cool.

6. 

   Slice & serve with butter.
