I have added lots of different styles and shapes of gemstone beads to this ring. This means the how to uses a few different techniques to attach the beads to the ring base. You can make it much simpler by using one type of bead.
I have added lots of different styles and shapes of gemstone beads to this ring. This means the how to uses a few different techniques to attach the beads to the ring base. You can make it much simpler by using one type of bead.
Thread a piece of wire through the hole in the bead. Push the bead a third of the way along the wire. Fold the ends up and over each other so they make a cross above the point of the briolette.
Push the longer end of the wire so it is pointing straight up and push the shorter end of the wire so it is at 90°.
Wrap the shorter piece of wire around the longer piece a few times and cut the end off.
Make a loop using round nose pliers just above where you wrapped the other end of wire around.
Slide the loop onto one of the loops on the ring base.
Wrap the wire around down past the hole drilled in the bead. Keep wrapping the wire down over the bead.
Once you have wrapped the wire down as far as you want fold it up towards where you started wrapping. Wrap the wire around a couple of times. Snip off the end.
Thread the heart bead onto a headpin.
Hold the head pin just above the bead using round nose pliers. Bend the end of the head pin around one of the barrels of the round nose pliers to make a loop. (It looks a bit like a P shape.)
Thread the loop on to the ring base and cut the end of the head pin off close to the loop.
Next the Wraptite setting and the topaz stone.
Place the stone in the setting and hold a headpin in the loop at the top. (This stops you accidentally closing the loop.) Gently squeeze the top of the Wraptite setting (just under the loop) with a pair of chain nose pliers.
It will look like this. Attach to the ring base using a small jump ring using 2 pairs of chain nose pliers. To open and close jump rings hold either side of the opening in the ring with a pair of pliers. Move the ends in a forward and backwards motion. Never pull the jump ring apart sideways, this deforms the shape of the ring.
Thread the charms on to jump rings and attach to the ring base using 2 pairs of chain nose pliers.
Thread the last of the beads on to head pins. Add these to the ring base in the same way you added the heart bead.
Your ring will look a bit like this.
