So I was kinda obsessing over those amazing vintage Chanel chain glasses seen on the splendid ex-Mrs Yeezy. They're a pair of large-frame shades with chains across the top, hanging down in a necklace from the edges. Similar styles have been put out recently by the amazing (and uber-expensive) A-Morir. so i decided to make my own with some secondhand frames and discount frames. Glue was the added ingredient. Simple as pie!

Similar styles have been put out recently by the amazing (and uber-expensive) A-Morir. so i decided to make my own with some secondhand frames and discount frames. Glue was the added ingredient. Simple as pie!
STEP 1. clean work surface. glue. glasses. chains. sellotape (will explain this later. don't worry its not gonna feature on the finished product. not unless you're going for Nerd-Bling hybrid chic..)
STEP 2: Align the chains. the ones i'm using are £1 in the sale at Topman and feature lovely variegated colours. but i wanted to be sure (a) the change in the colour was positioned right over the nose/bridge part of my glasses and (b)- CRUCIAL, this- that the chains are lying flat. otherwise they wont stick and will come out all nubbly. and nobody wants that.
STEP 3. Tape n Glue. You cover up everywhere you don't want the superglue to go (though dont worry if things get a little messy, some strong nail polish remover can remove Loctite-blotches with a bit of perseverance..). then as carefully as possible run a line of glue along the top of the glasses. let this dry for about fifteen mins, then add more glue for the chains to stick to the glue thats sticking to the glasses. that first layer is crucial since the chains, however light, will have a hard time sticking to bare plastic. SO, quick recap. ONE layer of glue. dry that. THEN glue on top, THEN chains. cool cool!
STEP 4: The Re-tape. when the chains are starting to set, you might be worried that they'll move out of place. keep and eye on them and reposition if necessary, then when the glue is no longer oozy, stick some more sellotape over the chains, sticking them into place. leave this to set for as long as possible, overnight is good. think of it like a manicure- it takes longer than you expect for it to be entirely set in place.
STEP 5: The Waiting Game. ...tick.....tock.....
FINAL STEP: Rip off the tape and rock your blinged-out Mrs Kanye shades!
